Shorebeat was founded by award-winning journalist Daniel Nee, a township native who was also the founder of Ocean County’s Patch sites and later the region’s senior editor. He created Shorebeat as a new platform to deliver the news and community information Jersey Shore locals and visitors care about most, without any distractions or fluff.
Daniel especially enjoys reporting on government, politics, as well as boating, fishing and coastal issues. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Monmouth University and an M.A. in Public Policy, also from Monmouth. He has also attended a Rutgers University seminar on municipal budgeting policies and sits on the Stakeholder Advisory Board of the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium. He is also pursuing a law degree.
