The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a child in a vehicle in Lakewood, the agency said Wednesday.
According to a statement, Lakewood police were dispatched to the area of 5th Street Tuesday at about 1:45 p.m. for a report of an infant inside a motor vehicle in distress. Responding Officers found Hatzolah Medical Services attempting to render lifesaving aid to a four month-old male infant. The child was transported to Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus in Lakewood, where he was pronounced deceased.
The death is currently under investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, Lakewood Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, the prosecutor’s office said.
