Ducey said Tuesday that\u00a0high school juniors and seniors in Brick Township have\u00a0a scholarship opportunity offered by the New Jersey State League of Municipalities. The League is offering three, $1,000 scholarships through the Louis Bay II\u00a0Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition. The statewide competition centers on the theme \u201cWhat My Municipal Government Does Best\u201d and seeks to advance the virtues of elected members of municipal government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrick Township has many exceptional young students,\u201d Ducey said in an announcement on the scholarship opportunity. \u201cI encourage all juniors and seniors to participate in this scholarship competition and show just how exceptional, talented and dedicated the young people of our community are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Applicants will be required to write an essay of approximately 500 words with the theme \u201cWhat My Municipal Government Does Best.\u201d The essay should be based on the applicant\u2019s perceptions and experiences with your municipality\u2019s local government and should consider the public contribution of the municipal government. Judging is based solely on the essay including originality, technical composition and appropriateness and effective articulation of theme.<\/p>\n<p>Students wishing to apply for the scholarship competition can download an application packet at the township website,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bricktownship.net\/\">www.bricktownship.net<\/a>.\u00a0 If you would like to request an application by email, please send an email to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:emoroney@twp.brick.nj.us\">emoroney@twp.brick.nj.us<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The scholarship is open to all high school juniors and seniors. Residents who live in Brick but attend schools in other communities should return their application to the mayor\u2019s\u00a0office.<\/p>\n<p>A committee will select one essay from Brick Township as a semi-finalist. That application will be forwarded and reviewed by the NJSLOM Scholarship Committee.\u00a0 That committee will select 15 finalists and 3 winners.
