(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Ever notice those trucks parked in at the site of the former Foodtown supermarket on Route 70?<\/p>\n<p>They are allowed to be there, township officials say, and residents are receiving a benefit from their presence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a mutual agreement with them,\u201d said Mayor John Ducey, explaining that the trucks are from a tree cutting and removal service, and are being allowed to use the parking lot in exchange for trimming and removing some trees for the township. \u201cThey\u2019re getting the parking spots and we\u2019re getting some trees taken down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response to a question from a resident at a recent meeting of the township council, Township Administrator Joanne Bergin said no formal study was conducted to calculate the value of the parking spaces versus the tree-cutting services, but so far the deal has been beneficial, especially since the lot continues to sit empty while its former redeveloper is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorebeat.com\/brick\/2017\/01\/trial-begins-in-lawsuit-over-brick-foodtown-site\/\">suing the township<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe supervise the work and we\u2019re happy with the agreement,\u201d said Bergin.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fb-share-button fcbkbttn_large_button \" data-href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/brick\/2017\/02\/trucks-parked-at-old-foodtown-site-part-of-barter-deal-with-township\/\" data-type=\"button_count\" data-size=\"large\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ever notice those trucks parked in at the site of the former Foodtown supermarket on Route 70?
