One of the most popular Brick recreational programs had\u00a0fallen to the wayside over logistical challenges, but officials say they are now hoping to brick it back.<\/p>\n

Ice skating lessons, in the past, had been one of the Recreation Department\u2019s most popular offerings with families, but reserving ice time and instructors proved challenging. This week, the township council sought to bring back the program by combining a bid solicitation for both the ice time and instruction. By combining the two facets of the classes, officials hope to receive favorable pricing and avoid separating the location of the lessons from those teaching them.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe program was very, very popular many years ago and the department is looking to bring it back again after requests from many families,\u201d said Councilwoman Andrea Zapcic, who previously served as the township\u2019s recreation director. \u201cIdeally, we\u2019re looking for a location that would offer ice times convenient for parents, which has been difficult in the past.\u201d<\/p>\n

The final price of the ice time and lessons will be divided up among those participating, who will pay a fee for the service.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will be an all-inclusive fee that will be passed to the parents,\u201d Zapcic said.<\/p>\n

Bids will be solicited and, if the township receives a response, will likely award it and begin forming classes.<\/p>\n
