Brick is expected to have a new schools chief following a special meeting of the Board of Education set for Monday night.<\/p>\n

The board will meet and, according to an agenda, vote on whether to appoint\u00a0Dennis Filippone as interim superintendent beginning July 1.<\/p>\n

Thomas Gialanella, the current interim superintendent, will be appointed as\u00a0Interim Director of Planning, Research, and Evaluation \u2013 the position currently held by\u00a0Filippone \u2013 in what will essentially amount to the pair switching positions.<\/p>\n

Gialanella, however, will work just two days per week at a per diem rate of\u00a0$638.56.\u00a0Filippone will receive a $44.13 per day raise over his current salary.\u00a0Filippone\u2019s currently salary was not listed on the agenda and could not be obtained over the weekend, in time for this story.<\/p>\n

Gialanella was appointed February 5, 2016, and under a state law would not be able to retain his position on an interim basis past Feb. 5, 2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Filippone will be the third interim superintendent put in place of Walter Uszenski, who last week suffered a legal blow as a new grand jury handed up an indictment against him. Richard Caldes was first appointed on an interim basis, followed by Gialanella, who will apparently be replaced by\u00a0Filippone.<\/p>\n

The meeting is set to begin at 6 p.m. Monday at the Professional Development Center, adjacent to the main administrative office at 101 Hendrickson Avenue.<\/p>\n
