Bids from construction companies are due back Oct. 26, a notice from the agency said.<\/p>\n<p>The bulkheading, a portion of what is known as \u201cthe wall\u201d at the inlet to local anglers, was a known weak point for years. It sits adjacent to the memorial statue to lost fishermen toward the western end of the inlet. It was destroyed by a nor\u2019easter in March and, since, has been rudimentarily patched and marked with a small buoy.<\/p>\n<p>Officials said the quick repair has lingered because the state was waiting to get the larger bulkhead replacement project underway.
