Jim Holzapfel. \u201cHe excels in classroom management and supports his students learning in an enthusiastic and creative environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 10th\u00a0District legislators, which include state Assembly members David Wolfe and Gregory P. McGuckin, present the Excellence in Education Award annually to the elementary, middle school or high school teacher within the legislative district who \u201cbest exemplifies commitment and dedication to classroom teaching,\u201d according to the legislative office.<\/p>\n<p>Some of Paxton\u2019s most recent accomplishments include successfully writing several grants, which were awarded to further advance the STEM program \u2013 including one which he used to teach students about the power of solar energy.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of Thomas Edison State College and resident of Brick, Paxton started his career at Lake Riviera in 2006 and continued his education at New Jersey City University where he received his Master\u2019s Degree. He was praised for excellent classroom management and employing an innovative teaching strategy which has created a positive environment for all middle school learners.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce we reviewed Mr. Paxton\u2019s credentials it was clear that he is held in high regard by his students, colleagues and the administration,\u201d said Wolfe. \u201cHe has dedicated many personal hours to advance the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) \u00a0program at Lake Riviera Middle School along with serving as the leader for the Kettle Creek Crusaders, a weekly environmental club for all students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cMr. Paxton stands as a symbol of excellence in teaching and is a model for those who teach or desire to make a difference in our children\u2019s present and future,\u201d said McGuckin. \u201cMr. Paxton has proven to go above and beyond for his students and parents while earning the admiration of his fellow colleagues.\u00a0 He is a reflection of the outstanding level of education at the Brick Township School District and the State of New Jersey.
