The Brick Township Board of Education will reorganize Wednesday with two new members, and soon after take up a vote on new principals for two township schools \u2013 including a former district superintendent.<\/p>\n

Walter Hrycenko, who served as superintendent from 2009 to 2012, will be transferred from his current position as District Supervisor of Science to Herbertsville Elementary School\u2019s acting principal. Hrycenko\u2019s salary will be increased from $160,000 per year to $166,000.<\/p>\n

Jonathan Barresi, who is currently an assistant principal at Brick Memorial High School, is set to be appointed principal of Veterans Memorial Elementary School. Barresi will see his salary increased from $117,263 to $131,225.<\/p>\n

Hrycenko will replace Bonnie Giles, who is retiring. Barresi will fill a spot that is currently taken up by an interim principal.<\/p>\n

Two new board members, Jessica Clayton and Maria Foster, will be sworn into four year terms at the beginning of the meeting. Though school boards in New Jersey are technically nonpartisan, Clayton is affiliated with the Green Party and Foster is affiliated with the Democratic party. Clayton runs a day-care at her home and Foster works as a labor union organizer.<\/p>\n

Except for Clayton\u2019s, all board seats will be occupied by Democratic affiliates after Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The board will begin the meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Brick Professional Development Center \u2013 the proposed new location for board meetings \u2013 which is located adjacent to the central administration office at the Veterans Complex at 101 Hendrickson Avenue.<\/p>\n
