The Buy in Brick property tax discount program aimed at encouraging township residents to support local business, will begin October 1, officials announced.<\/p>\n

Under the program, residents pick up a discount card, then use it at participating businesses who credit a percentage of each purchase back to the resident\u2019s property tax bill. The program is intended to spur commerce in town by giving residents an incentive to shop locally.<\/p>\n

Buy In Brick Cards will be available in the Brick Municipal Building, 401 Chambers Bridge Road, for residents during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cards will also be available at select township events such as Bricktoberfest on October 18.\u00a0 The cards are free.<\/p>\n

Everyone who receives a card, which must then be activated online, will receive instructions on how to register the card and a list of participating merchants, officials said in the announcement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very excited to launch Buy In Brick,\u201d said Mayor John Ducey, in the announcement. \u201cWe are the first town in Ocean County to offer this type of program and I am confident that it is going to be an enormous success.\u201d<\/p>\n
