(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brick&#8217;s rates of violent crime and property crime are below the state average, with the township ranking the 142nd-safest city in the state, data released this week showed.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alarms.org\/safest-cities-in-new-jersey-2018\/\">ranking<\/a>, published by the National Council For Home Safety and Security, utilized data from the FBI&#8217;s Uniform Crime Report to calculate the safest communities in the state. Brick, with a population of\u00a074,818, according to FBI data, experienced 71 incidents of violent crime and 1,059 incidents of property crime in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The data showed Brick had an overall violent crime rate of 0.95 per 1,000 residents, well below New Jersey&#8217;s rate of 2.41. The property crime rate, likewise, was 14.5, below the state average of 14.96.<\/p>\n<p>The report listed the safest municipality in the state as River Vale, a 4.2 square-mile town of just under 10,000 residents in Bergen County. River Vale had a violent crime rate of 0 and a property crime rate of 2.59.<\/p>\n<p>The least safe municipality was Millville, a town of 28,400 in Cumberland County.
