A 52-year-old Brick Township man succumbed to injuries he received after being hit by a car near the Dorada Plaza shopping center on Lanes Mill Road Monday night.<\/p>\n

The Brick man, William P. Johnson, 52, was struck as he was attempting to cross Lanes Mill Road at 8:14 p.m. by a 2011 Toyota Camry being driven by Moshe Wachsman, 35, of Lakewood.<\/p>\n

According to an initial police investigation, Johnson was trying to cross from east to west, about 150 feet north of Stephan Road, where a crosswalk is located.\u00a0Wachsman stopped his car at the Stephan Road intersection following the incident.<\/p>\n

The Brick Township Police Department\u2019s patrol units along with EMS and MONOC Paramedics responded to the scene, but Johnson had already died by the time they arrived.<\/p>\n

Though the accident is still under investigation, police do not believe\u00a0Wachsman was impaired by alcohol or drugs, nor was he using his cell phone at the time. Vehicular traffic was detoured around the crash scene for approximately an hour and a half during the on scene investigation.<\/p>\n

The Ocean County Prosecutor\u2019s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit responded to assist in the investigation, as well the Ocean County Sheriff\u2019s CIU team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
