(Photo: The Arc of Ocean County)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brick Mayor John Ducey has been recognized as Humanitarian of the Year by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arcocean.org\">The Arc of Ocean County<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ducey was honored along with\u00a0Matthew Redmond, a disable Brick resident who has benefited from The Arc\u2019s services and is affectionately known around town as \u201cMayor Matt.\u201d Redmond received the organization\u2019s 2018 Heart & Soul Award. He\u2019s also been involved in the community and was honored at a township council meeting last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo honor Mayor Ducey and Mayor Matt together this year was very meaningful to us at The Arc Ocean County Chapter,\u201d said Laura Williams, Executive Director. \u201cBoth mayors are exemplary advocates for the community we serve and for that, we are so grateful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The awards ceremony took place at The Arc\u2019s annual \u201cRock the Night\u201d dinner, which was held last Thursday. The event raised $43,000 for the Ocean County chapter.<\/p>\n<p>The Arc\u2019s Ocean County Chapter was established in 1955 with the mission to advocate, provide opportunities and supports necessary for all individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to be accepted and valued as citizens of the communities in which they choose to live, learn, work and play.
