A car repair facility has been denied a license to operate as a used car sales business after apparently storing \u201cjunk\u201d vehicles on its property.<\/p>\n

Robinson\u2019s Garage, on Drum Point Road, was denied a vehicle sales permit based on the recommendations of township officials and the township attorney, said Council President Heather deJong.<\/p>\n

Joanne Bergin, the township\u2019s business administrator, said she has met with the owner of the business on numerous occasions about what officials have viewed as a change in the use of the property, but no progress has been made.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has transitioned where it is not an auto repair shop,\u201d said Bergin.\u201dIt\u2019s mostly a location where cars are kept for sale, and kept for sale for junk purposes as opposed to what you would usually expect from a used car lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

The business\u2019s license allowed it to operate as a car repair garage with \u201ca few spaces\u201d for vehicles to be placed up for the sale, Bergin said. But over the years, the business has begun collecting derelict vehicles and putting them up for sale.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not allowed to be a used car lot and certainly not allowed to be a storage facility for junked vehicles,\u201d said Bergin.<\/p>\n

The business can still operate as a repair shop, but vehicle sales are now banned.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been working with [the owner] to transition it back to what it should be, but we haven\u2019t had success,\u201d said Bergin.<\/p>\n
