Brick officials have entered into a contract with a new electricity provider that they say will save taxpayers more than $200,000 over two years.<\/p>\n

The township council this week approved a contract with Aggressive Energy, of Brooklyn, N.Y., to provide electricity to government buildings as well as street lights. The deal was made on May 22 and was conducted through a bidding process led by Concord Energy Services, the township\u2019s energy consultant.<\/p>\n

Aggressive will charge $0.07295 per kilowatt-hour for general electricity and $0.05250 for lighting. The bulk electricity rate will provide savings of $215,000 over two years, Council President Heather deJong said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe savings is a direct comparison to the effective utility rate June 1,\u201d said deJong, adding that the rate is a 15 percent decrease from what the township is currently paying.<\/p>\n
