Police say a woman who was described as \u201cextremely intoxicated\u201d rushed at a man, unprovoked, and stabbed him after he fended her off.<\/p>\n

Dana P. Manuel, 47, was at the Arrowhead Inn on Route 88 when the Aug. 10 incident occurred at 9:50 p.m., police said Thursday. The victim, a 33-year-old man, did not know the suspect, according to police.<\/p>\n

Manuel, of Brick, \u201cwas extremely intoxicated when she approached the victim who was standing in the parking lot and began yelling at him,\u201d Ptl. Keith Donnelly said in a statement.\u00a0 Manuul then charged at the victim, \u201cchest bumped\u201d him and stabbed him in the abdomen, the report went on to say.<\/p>\n

The victim was able to tackle Manual to the ground in an attempt to stop her, but after both stood back up, Manual stabbed him again, this time in the left arm, according to police. Eventually, the victim and a bystander tackled Manual to the ground and this time they were able to disarm her.<\/p>\n

Manual then got back up, ran to her vehicle and fled the scene afterward, according to police.<\/p>\n

Police began looking for the vehicle and soon spotted it on Mantoloking Road. An officer stopped the vehicle and recognized Manuel as the suspect.<\/p>\n

\u201cHer clothing and skin was covered in what appeared to be dried blood,\u201d Donnelly said.<\/p>\n

During questioning, Manuel admitted to being involved in a fight at the Arrowhead Inn, but told officers that she was the victim.\u00a0 She refused to cooperate with officers\u2019 requests to perform field sobriety tests and was into custody for drunk driving. She was transported to Brick Hospital to be evaluated for any injuries she may have received in the fight, \u201cwhich was difficult to see due to the dried blood.\u201d<\/p>\n

After being released from the hospital, Manuel was transported to Brick Police headquarters where she was processed. As a result of the investigation Manuel was lodged in the Ocean County Jail after being charged with second degree aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, third degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, third degree terroristic threats, fourth degree unlawful possession of a weapon and numerous motor vehicle violations including: DWI, careless driving, reckless driving, driving while suspended, improper passing, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt.<\/p>\n

The victim was treated for his injuries at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.<\/p>\n
