Starbucks will build a free-standing coffeehouse in Brick Township following unanimous approval by the township\u2019s planning board Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

The chain\u2019s newest location will be constructed inside the jug-handle area of the Bay Harbor shopping plaza on Brick Boulevard, which is also home to a Stop & Shop supermarket and Burlington Coat Factory store. The planned Starbucks will be one of more than 28,000 locations worldwide, but one of just a few free-standing locations in the Shore area. Starbucks has a location within the Target store in Brick, as well as a location in Lakewood off Route 70, but no full-size coffehouses in the Brick area. The location will replace what was once a Getty gas station.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s in a prominent location, there is a lot of traffic on Brick Boulevard and it will provide an aesthetically-pleasing upgrade to the site,\u201d said\u00a0Jilian McLeer, the attorney representing Starbucks.<\/p>\n

McLeer said the restaurant will include outdoor seating and a drive-through window.<\/p>\n

Dan Governale, the architect who designed the location, said the 0.92-acre site will have four access points \u2013 two from the jug handle and two from Brick Boulevard. Starbucks will work with Ocean County to provide safe crosswalks and will also design links to the main parking lot of Bay Harbor Plaza.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will all blend in pretty well,\u201d Governale said.<\/p>\n

The project, its representatives said, will likely get under construction in the spring or summer of 2019.<\/p>\n
