(Photo: National Weather Service)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>More than an inch of rain was expected to fall overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, beginning with a chance of showers after 5 p.m., forecasters said.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service predicted a line of heavier rain and thunderstorms would drench the Ocean County area after midnight, with local rainfall totals adding up to between 1.5 and 1.75 inches. Some of the storms could also produce high wind gusts, though sustained winds would be between 14 and 16 m.p.h.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service also, in a forecast released Wednesday, said roads prone to flooding could end up underwater after particularly heavy rain bands pass through.<\/p>\n<p>A small craft advisory has issued for waters off the entire New Jersey coast, with seas predicted to run 5-8 feet Wednesday night and 4-7 feet through Thursday.
