White Castle opened its restaurant in Brick today, a full 12 years after it gained initial approval to build its location in the Riverwalk shopping center. As word spread during the day, a steady stream of cars stretched around the building, sometimes protruding out into Hooper Avenue, and parking spaces surrounding the restaurant were all taken.<\/p>\n

The fast food chain, known for its small square hamburgers, chicken rings and late-night offerings, announced it had opened its doors Monday morning. The 62-seat restaurant, with a drive-through lane, was initially approved to be constructed on a site adjacent to its final location. That site was eventually developed with an Investors Bank branch and the planning board approved a reworked application in 2017 \u2013 after several previous approvals in between \u2013 that confirmed the restaurant would open next to the Outback Steakhouse restaurant.<\/p>\n

Brick\u2019s White Castle is the chain\u2019s third location in Ocean County. Toms River has long had a White Castle, and a location opened in Lacey Township last year.<\/p>\n
