(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brick officials this week adopted the township\u2019s 2019 municipal budget, totaling $8.5 million worth of road improvements, drainage projects, a dredging plan and equipment replacements.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor John Ducey said his administration has held steadfast to a promise to reduce the township\u2019s overall debt by limiting the capital budget to $8.5 million per year. With the township keeping bonding at that level, he said, debt has been retired and the overall debt load has been reduced over the last several years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPrior to that, under the previous administrations, the spending had been rampant,\u201d Ducey said.<\/p>\n<p>Business Administrator Joanne Bergin said township department heads submitted $25 million in requests which were pared down to the $8.5 million figure.<\/p>\n<p>Among this year\u2019s highlights:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One new automated garbage truck.<\/li>\n<li>Public Works vehicles: one rear loader, one single-axle dump truck, one bucket truck.<\/li>\n<li>Three replacement vehicles for IT, inspectors and code enforcement staff.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement of synthetic fields at the Drum Point Sports Complex.<\/li>\n<li>Replacement of the municipal building roof.<\/li>\n<li>Drainage improvements at the Brick American baseball senior field.<\/li>\n<li>Pinewood Park drainage improvements.<\/li>\n<li>Resurfacing of Duquesne Boulevard.<\/li>\n<li>Paving and drainage improvements at N.
