(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorebeat.com\/brick\/2019\/06\/police-teen-pulled-from-brick-lagoon-succumbs-to-injuries\/\">tragic death<\/a> of a 15-year-old boy in a Brick Township lagoon earlier this month hit home for many local residents, while starting a town-wide conversation on water safety.<\/p>\n<p>Brick police have organized a free water safety class this weekend, led by members of the Police Department Emergency Medical Technician Unit and the Brick Recreation Department\u2019s Ocean Rescue Unit.<\/p>\n<p>The class will be held this Saturday, June 22, at Tilton Fitness, 1686 Rt. 88 in Brick, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The class will go over introductory methods of water safety and water rescue, as well as CPR and first aid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s also an opportunity for our residents who do not know how to swim a chance to get into the water in a safe and guarded environment,\u201d said Sgt.
