The store is located just north of the intersection of state routes 70 and 88.

Specifically, the proposal calls for Home Depot to build a 4,680 square foot area behind the store for the storage of bagged mulch, operating from Feb. 1 through Oct. 31 annually. The plan also seeks approval for a a 5,440 square foot area behind the store as a permanent staging area for lumber and a a 1,620 square foot area at the northeast corner of the parking lot for the permanent display of compact power equipment. Finally, the store is asking to establish a 540 square foot area at the northeast corner of the parking lot as a “load and go” area.

The application additionally asks for permission to designate a 652 square foot area of existing sidewalk at the southeast corner of the store for the permanent outdoor storage of goods and merchandise, and a 608 square foot area of existing sidewalk in front of the garden center for the permanent display of plants and flowers.

The township’s zoning ordinance calls for the store to have 636 parking spaces. The store previously received a variance allowing the number of spaces to be reduced to 552, and the new proposal will request an additional reduction, which would bring the number of spaces to 477.

Home Depot is also requesting relief from a previous variance contingency that prohibited tent sales and sidewalk sales at the property.

The application will be heard at the Board of Adjustment’s July 24 meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at the township municipal complex.

The Home Depot store in Brick Township has applied to the zoning board for permission to construct several outdoor areas adjacent to its 108,406 square foot retail store and 18,619 square foot garden center.
