(File Photo)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Brick Township school district will sell the historic Laurelton School building at a public auction.<\/p>\n<p>Built in 1934, the school has not been populated by students since 2003. Though it contains many facets of a historic structure, it is not designated as such due to several rounds of heavy renovation that would have nullified such a status. The school district received <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorebeat.com\/brick\/2019\/01\/brick-planning-board-oks-subdivision-of-former-school-property\/\">permission to subdivide the school property<\/a> in January so the front-facing portion on Route 88 can be sold and the rear portion which houses the district\u2019s central receiving dock can be retained.<\/p>\n<p>The Board of Education voted last week to sell the school at an auction to be held Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. at the district\u2019s central administration building on Hendrickson Avenue. The property will be sold the the highest bidder, with a minimum bid of $620,000 being accepted.<\/p>\n<p>A pre-auction, on-site meeting will be conducted Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. where prospective bidders are encouraged to make a site visit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo testing will be permitted nor will questions be answered by the district and\/or its representatives,\u201d the resolution passed by the board states. \u201cThe sole purpose of this meeting is to permit prospective bidders the opportunity to visually review the property.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The winning bidder will be required to present a 10 percent non-refundable deposit at the time of the auction and close within 60 days. The sale price is prohibited from being used in any future tax appeals or before a state tax court.
