(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Making good on a promise to local anglers, Brick Township officials have announced that beach buggies will once again be allowed on township beaches now that the years-long beach replenishment project is completed.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time since Superstorm Sandy hit in 2012, the township will be making permits for operating motor vehicles on beaches available. The permits will allow beach access to vehicles from Oct. 1 through April 30. Beach vehicle permit applications are available online (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bricktownship.net\/\">www.bricktownship.net<\/a>) and in the Municipal Clerk\u2019s Office.\u00a0 The permit application fee is $35.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter nearly seven years, we are pleased to finally reopen our beaches to vehicles in the offseason and allow people to once again enjoy activities such as surf fishing,\u201d said Mayor John Ducey. \u201cWe thank everyone for their patience and understanding throughout the recovery and replenishment of our beaches.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Beach access will be available at Brick Beach One only.<\/p>\n<p>All vehicles are subject to an inspection by the Brick Township Police Department before a permit is approved. The inspection schedule is as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wednesdays \u2013 September 4, 11, 18, 25 \u2013 6pm-9pm<\/li>\n<li>Fridays \u2013 September 6, 13, 20, 27 \u2013 6pm-9pm<\/li>\n<li>Saturdays \u2013 September 7, 14, 21, 28 \u2013 9am-3pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications must be completed prior to inspection. Applications must include $35, a copy of a valid driver\u2019s license and a copy of valid vehicle registration. Applications can be submitted in the Clerk\u2019s Office, to Traffic Safety at the time of inspection (checks made payable to Township of Brick) and mailed to the Clerk\u2019s Office.
