In the past, these streets were often allowed to remain in poor condition since it was financially unfeasible to bring equipment into town for a single, small street. But the township began grouping many of the needy streets together and bid them out at once to reduce costs.

For 2020, the isolated streets to be repaved include: Bretonian Drive, Millbrook Road, Rochester Drive, Stuyvesant Avenue and Tilford Boulevard.

Bids are being solicited now, and the township council is expected to award a contract to the lowest qualified bidder at a future meeting. Paving will commence once asphalt plants reopen in the spring. The street improvements also include drainage work and repairs to sidewalks and driveway aprons.

Brick officials on Tuesday night voted to solicit bids for the township’s isolated street paving program.
