A Lakewood man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for heroin distribution, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n

Tony Olden, 33, was sentenced Friday by Superior Court Judge Rochelle Gizinski following his guilty plea of possession of more than a half-ounce of heroin with intent to distribute. He received a concurrent sentence of five years for illegal possession of a weapon.<\/p>\n

The charges arose out of a three-month long investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor\u2019s Office Narcotics Strike Force and Lakewood Police Department Street Crimes Unit. Due to that investigation, detectives stopped a vehicle being driven by Olden on Aug. 6, 2019 and recovered a \u201csubstantial amount of heroin as well as a handgun,\u201d prosecutors said.<\/p>\n

That same day, detectives executed a search warrant at a residence in Lakewood which yielded additional \u201csignificant\u201d amounts of heroin.<\/p>\n

Olden had already been serving a sentence in state prison on separate charges when his new sentence was handed down.<\/p>\n
