The $171,560 contract is an approximately $2,000 raise from his previous contract. In addition to the salary, Edwards will receive 27 paid vacation days and three personal days, as well as 12 sick days. The Board of Education will pay the premium for his health insurance, the contract says. Edwards\u2019 membership in a number of professional associations and attendance at several conferences will also be covered by the taxpayers.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to a question from school board member John Talty, Superintendent Dr. Walter Uszenski said Edwards is the only district employee who receives 27 vacation days; all others receive less.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t recommend this contract as it reads right now,\u201d said Talty, who also took aim at the fact that Edwards will receive mileage reimbursement for in-district travel, another perk not normally available to other employees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFifteen years ago, industry did away with six weeks\u2019 vacation,\u201d said resident Vic Fanelli, addressing the matter. \u201cGod bless you, Mr. Edwards, you\u2019re walking on water.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The board approved the contract, despite Talty\u2019s \u201cno\u201d vote.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fcbkbttn_buttons_block\" id=\"fcbkbttn_left\"><div class=\"fb-share-button fcbkbttn_large_button \" data-href=\"https:\/\/shorebeat.com\/brick\/2014\/10\/171k-contract-approved-for-brick-school-business-administrator\/\" data-type=\"button_count\" data-size=\"large\"><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Brick school district\u2019s business administrator has inked a one-year, $171,560 contract to run retroactive from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2015.
