Brick Township council members on Tuesday night voted to solicit bids to make improvements at Windward Beach Park to make it more accessible to those with disabilities.<\/p>\n

The funding for the project will come from a grant the township previously received to make its facilities more compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act. The engineering firm Maser Consulting will draw up plans for the work and the township will select a contractor, however the costs will be \u201c100 percent reimbursed\u201d by the grant, said Council President Lisa Crate.<\/p>\n

Crate said plans for the project include a parking lot renovation with accessibility in mind, including new paving, striping and signage. The project also calls for new railings and lighting at the park, located off Princeton Avenue on the Metedeconk River.<\/p>\n

After specifications for the work are drawn up by Maser, construction firms will bid on the work itself. There was no timeline given for the project, as it has yet to enter its design stage.<\/p>\n
