Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus is charged is facing charges of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon.<\/p>\n<p>According to a statement from the Ocean County Prosecutor\u2019s Office, police were called to the condominium for a report of an unresponsive woman at a residence. Upon arrival, officers found the lifeless body of Rebecca Gavilanez-Alectus in an upstairs bedroom of the residence. An autopsy performed the following day led to the death being labeled a homicide.<\/p>\n<p>The ensuring investigation revealed to authorities that the suspect and victim were married and resided at the Creek Road address. Investigators also found that a cylindrical container used for the purpose of chilling wine was utilized in the commission of the murder.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe injuries sustained by Rebecca Gavilanez-Alectus were consistent with the implementation of this item,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>On May 18, 2020, a warrant for the arrest of Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus was issued. On May 21, 2020, Mayra Gavilanez-Alectus was taken into custody by law enforcement in Houston, Texas.
