Brick police officers in the department\u2019s Street Crimes Unit are continuing their battle against quality-of-life crimes in Brick, including capturing those suspected of selling or having illicit drugs in their vehicles. A war on crime, however, is not always glamorous, as officers found out with multiple instances of having to recover substances that were alleged to have been shoved down suspects\u2019 pants.<\/p>\n

The unit reported the following incidents over the past few weeks:<\/p>\n

Jan. 10, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

SCU detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Hooper Avenue near Gloria Ann Smith Drive.<\/p>\n

During the course of the investigation, the driver told officers she was in possession of heroin and pulled approximately 10 wax folds wrapped in a rubber band out from the front of her pants. The driver, Kimberly Sweet, 49, of Brick, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia and possession of a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle. Sweet was processed and released on a summons.<\/p>\n

Jan. 11, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

SCU detectives reported they observed a motor vehicle violations and conducted a traffic stop in Yorktown Plaza. The driver, identified as Odeanne Lawes, 33, of New York, caused a scene by \u201cyelling and failing to obey police commands,\u201d police said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Lawes was charged with obstruction and released on a summons.<\/p>\n

Jan. 21, 2022<\/strong><\/p>\n

SCU detectives observed a vehicle on Route 88 and Chambers Bridge Road make \u201cseveral motor vehicle violations,\u201d the statement said. The detectives conducted a motor vehicle stop, and while approaching the vehicle, observed two occupants in the car \u201cleaned over inspecting a plastic baggie in the center console area.\u201d Detectives then observed the driver of the vehicle stuff the baggie down his pants, police said.<\/p>\n

The driver, Keith Morse, 33, of Brick, was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession of oxycodone, intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled dangerous substance inside a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n

The passenger, Tyler Breece, 24, of Brick, was charged with loitering to obtain a controlled dangerous substance. Morse and Breece were processed and lodged in Ocean County Jail.<\/p>\n
