Garden State Parkway<\/p><\/div>\n

Interchange 88 on the southbound Garden State Parkway in Lakewood will be closed permanently as of 7 p.m. Monday, officials with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority announced.<\/p>\n

The closure is part of ongoing improvements being made to the connections between the Parkway and local roads at interchanges 88 and 89 for Brick and Lakewood.<\/p>\n

Southbound drivers who want to access Route 70 will now exit at interchange 89 and drive as directed over a newly constructed service road. Those drivers will pay a toll on exit at interchange 89, but will no longer pay a toll at interchange 88.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe change will not affect the amount of the toll paid,\u201d officials said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Signs on the southbound Parkway will direct drivers to use interchange 89 to reach Route 70.<\/p>\n

The work to close interchange 88 will begin Monday evening and will be finished before rush hour Tuesday morning.
