Brick police arrested three township residents and a Philadelphia man after a chase through a township condominium complex, ultimately seizing quantities of heroin and crack cocaine, authorities said.<\/p>\n

The scenario played out Thursday, June 23, when the department\u2019s Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on Cindy Court in the Evergreen Woods complex. The Brick Township Police Special Emergency Response Team and the Ocean County Prosecutor\u2019s Office Narcotics Strike Force assisted with the service of the warrant.<\/p>\n

Thomas Plummer, 45, of Philadelphia, was the target of the investigation. Tyler Bartholomew, 28, Kylie Rhoades, 28, and Ashley Smith, 25, all from Brick, were also \u201cresiding at the house and engaging in illegal activity,\u201d said Sgt. Jim Kelly.<\/p>\n

According to Kelly, when police arrived, Plummer, Smith and Bartholomew, who were all standing outside, ran away. Plummer was chased down and apprehended in the Evergreen Woods complex a short distance away, and as he was running detectives
\n\u201cobserved him discard several items that were later recovered and identified as vials of crack cocaine and heroin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bartholomew and Smith retreated into the residence and locked the door, police said, causing officers to force entry into the residence. They were subsequently discovered in a bedroom with Rhoades.<\/p>\n

A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia, heroin and crack, said Kelly. More crack and heroin were recovered outside the residence in the area where Plummer was apprehended.<\/p>\n

All four suspects were charged with two counts of possession of controlled dangerous substances and possession of paraphernalia.\u00a0 In addition, Plummer was charged with obstructing the administration of justice, resisting arrest, and two counts of intent to distribute crack and heroin. Bartholomew and Smith were also charged with obstruction.<\/p>\n

Plummer, Rhoades and Bartholomew were issued warrants and lodged in the Ocean County Jail. Ashley Smith was released on a summons. On Thursday, when police issued a statement on the case, none of the parties remained lodged in the jail, and no photos were available.<\/p>\n
