First responders and beachgoers breathed a sigh of relief in Brick Township Wednesday, after a child who was suspected of having disappeared underwater while swimming was found safely on a neighboring beach.<\/p>\n

Water rescue units in Zodiak boats and the township’s underwater recovery dive team, along with police and EMTs, were called to Brick Beach III around 5 p.m. Wednesday. A report was called in, indicating a 7-year-old boy was missing after having been swimming in the ocean.<\/p>\n

“The last time they saw him was in the water, so the dive team and everyone responded,” said Brick Bureau of Fire Prevention Chief Kevin Batzel.<\/p>\n

The boy was ultimately found safely walking on the beachfront in nearby Normandy Beach, in the Toms River portion.<\/p>\n
