Brick Township council members on Tuesday night unanimously awarded a contract for the repaving and drainage improvements on two streets as part of the township\u2019s ongoing \u201cisolated road\u201d paving program.<\/p>\n

The isolated road program was developed under the administration of former Mayor John Ducey with the intent on packaging a number of streets that are not located near each other, but still in need of maintenance, into a single contract. Generally, Brick and most other municipalities pave entire neighborhoods at once, but officials were finding that in some areas of town, specific streets were in great need of repaving, while surrounding streets were not. Normally, this would have prevented those streets from being paved, but bidding the multiple projects out together has proven a way to save money while still tackling streets with \u201cisolated\u201d problems.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the council awarded a $387,600 contract to Fiore Paving Company, of Oceanport, N.J., to pave Morris Avenue and a large portion of Meridian Drive.<\/p>\n

Morris Avenue is located in a neighborhood bordered by Route 70 and Burnt Tavern Road. Meridian Drive is located off Jordan Road in the Midstreams section of town. The timeline for paving will be determined after pre-construction meetings. Residents will receive notices before the work begins and will be advised when they may need to move their cars off the streets.<\/p>\n
