It\u2019s only a few episodes in, and there have been a couple of (humorous) glitches, but \u201cTalking Brick,\u201d Mayor John Ducey\u2019s Internet radio show, is already a hit with a number of public policy groups who have given the show a prestigious award.<\/p>\n

The show was awarded Best Special\/Innovative Media in the annual Municipal Public Information Contest, which was held at the recent League of Municipalities Convention in Atlantic City.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe pride ourselves on being an open and transparent government and take great efforts to inform the public about what is happening in Town Hall,\u201d said Ducey, in a statement on the award. \u201cIt is encouraging to be recognized for our efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n

The show is hosted on BlogTalkRadio.com<\/a> and features Ducey taking calls from residents, as well as a special guest.<\/p>\n

The show will complement the township\u2019s efforts to use social media and technology to keep residents informed, Ducey said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the ability to go live and speak with residents at any time and people can listen on their computers, tablets and smart phones,\u201d said Ducey. \u201cThis will be extremely helpful during times of emergencies and severe weather.\u00a0 We will share the information on Facebook and Twitter and then go live.\u201d<\/p>\n

There have been four episodes of the show so far. Ducey said recently that the staff has worked hard to get the show up and running and get the kinks out. In one of the first episodes, Ducey himself was cut off from the show for a few minutes, leaving a wayward caller alone on the air, but the show has since found its footing and is proving to be a valuable asset.<\/p>\n
