(Credit: NWS)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Municipalities were announcing the start of road salting operations Monday afternoon in anticipation of\u00a0 snow moving into the area during the evening and overnight hours.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Ocean County from 7 p.m. Monday night through 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlan on slippery road conditions,\u201d the advisory said, forecasting snow Monday evening into the overnight hours. A change over to mixed precipitation is likely Tuesday morning.. \u201cThe hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brick Township said its salting operations would begin during the afternoon Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrucks will be salting Township roads beginning at 2 p.m. today we ask any resident that has the ability to move their car into their driveway to please do so,\u201d the township said in an announcement.<\/p>\n<p>The advisory warns of \u201ctotal snow accumulations of 2 to 3 inches and ice accumulations of a light glaze,\u201d though the total accumulations will be spread over a large number of hours, and heavy snow is not necessarily expected.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Good morning! Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch is possible. Overnight, new snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible as the precipitation becomes more steady.<\/p>\n<p>Another half-inch of snow could fall Tuesday, though the precipitation is forecast to change to rain sometime after 9 a.m., with the daytime high Tuesday reaching 40 degrees.
