A Brick Township man is facing terroristic threats and weapons charges following a road rage incident that police say occurred Monday on Mantoloking Road.<\/p>\n

The incident played out at about 3 p.m. Monday, said Ptl. Victoria Finelli, when Ptl. Peter Bylsma was flagged down in the area of Mantoloking and Dock roads.<\/p>\n

The victim told Bylsma he had been involved in a road rage incident and had been threatened with a knife. Multiple officers responded to the scene, during which time the victim, whose name was not divulged, told officers he was traveling on Mantoloking Road when he was cut off by a vehicle and honked his horn. The suspect \u201cexited his vehicle and threatened the victim with a folding knife and began banging on his window and the side of his vehicle,\u201d Finelli said.<\/p>\n

The victim was able to leave the scene of the incident safely and provide Bylsma with a vehicle description, partial license plate and identifiable characteristics for the suspect. At 4:40 p.m., Ptl. Joseph McGrath was on patrol in the area of 7-Eleven store on Mantoloking Road when he observed a vehicle matching the description provided.<\/p>\n

McGrath approached the vehicle and began speaking with the male occupant, who was ultimately identified as Jake McMahon, 26, of Brick.<\/p>\n

McMahon \u201cappeared to have bloody knuckles on both hands,\u201d Finelli said, adding that he admitted to having been involved in the incident. He was charged with terroristic threats, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession a weapon.<\/p>\n

McMahon was taken to police headquarters, processed and released with a future court date. His photograph was not distributed.<\/p>\n
