Neighbors told Shorebeat a man who lived in a home had died there, eliciting a police response and an investigation that included interviews with residents near the home. Rumors quickly began spreading that foul play was involved in some sort of altercation, however police dashed those rumors in a statement issued by Chief David Forrester Tuesday night.

“After a thorough investigation conducted jointly with our partners at the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigations Division and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, it has been determined that the incident was a natural medical event,” the statement said. “Any other allegations about this incident are false. At no time were residents in danger.”

An investigation into the matter is apparently still ongoing, however.

“The Brick Township Police Department is committed to reporting accurate information once a full investigation is completed,” Forrester said.

Brick police issued a statement late Tuesday to correct what the department characterized as “misinformation” spreading on social media regarding an incident in the Midstreams section of town that drew a sizable police response last week.
