(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brick officials have been successful in obtaining $1.4 million from the state to reimburse a portion of the purchase price for the Breton Woods property off Drum Point Road, where a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorebeat.com\/brick\/2023\/01\/deal-reached-to-preserve-breton-woods-property-avoiding-59-home-development\/\">59-home development had been proposed<\/a> for construction.<\/p>\n<p>The township council unanimously accepted the funds last week, representing even more than the $1.2 million officials had initially expected to obtain through the Garden State Preservation Trust program.<\/p>\n<p>The influx of open space preservation dollars toward the project makes it virtually tax-neutral for residents. Local taxpayers would have been responsible for $1,710,000 of the $8,550,000 purchase of the 31-acre parcel, which had been owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Trenton by way of Visitation Parish.
