(Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Brick Township council decided to hold off on voting on an ordinance that would establish a mercantile licensing requirement in town.<\/p>\n<p>The council put off the vote so changes could be made to the ordinance before passage.<\/p>\n<p>Under the ordinance, as originally proposed, anyone who conducts business in Brick would be required to register with the township and pay a $25 license fee. Certain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorebeat.com\/brick\/2014\/12\/brick-council-to-vote-tonight-on-requiring-mercantile-licenses-for-businesses\/\">information would be required<\/a> from a licensed business, such as contact information and who to call in the event of an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor John Ducey said after the meeting that township officials are reviewing a number of parts of the ordinance, including the potential to require only businesses that have a physical location to register.
