(Credit: Google Earth)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Improvements to the pier at Windward Beach Park in Brick Township, first funded in the township\u2019s 2023 capital budget, are coming to fruition.<\/p>\n<p>When the budget was passed at the time, it funded a study by an engineering firm to probe the condition of the T-dock so it could be determined whether it was due for maintenance or a full replacement. With that study completed, it was decided by engineering officials that the pier\u2019s underpinnings were solid, but improvements were required on the surface.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cT-dock\u201d at Windward refers to the pier located near the west side of the park that juts out into the Metedeconk River and is popular with anglers, crabbers and those seeking out a good place to view the sunset. (Photo: Daniel Nee)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Last week, the township council unanimously voted to solicit bids for the improvements, which will include a redecking of the timber pier and new handrails, said Councilman Steve Feinman.<\/p>\n<p>Once bids are received, township staff will recommend the lowest qualified contractor, and the council will vote to award a contract.
