Brick Township\u2019s Rocco Lepore, who serves as council representative for the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, will be honored for his labor leadership and community service by the Archdiocese of Newark at its 32nd Annual Business & Labor Reception next month.<\/p>\n

The prestigious recognition honors Lepore, who has been a member of EASRCC for 32 years and now represents more than 10,000 EASRCC members in New Jersey. He began his career as an apprentice in 1993 before working as a shop steward and foreman during his years as a rank-and-file member. He also served as a trustee and vice president of his local before taking on a wider role.<\/p>\n

Mike Henderson Jr., chief operating officer of Sims Metal North America, is this year\u2019s business honoree.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Henderson and Mr. Lepore are both men of great character whose dedication to their employees and members \u2014 as well as the community \u2014 sets them far and above others,\u201d said Tom Conboy, director of the Office for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. \u201cThese men join the ranks of our state\u2019s most stellar business and labor leaders, and we look forward to recognizing them at our annual event on March 4.\u201d<\/p>\n

The dinner raises funds for the Archdiocese\u2019s Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and Retreat Center<\/a> in Kearny, which annually serves more than 40,000 young people. The Cardinal\u2019s Annual reception has raised more than $4 million for the organization since it was first held 32 years ago.<\/p>\n

Lepore is a member of the CTE Carpentry Advisory Board for Newark\u2019s Barringer High School and West Orange High School. Back in his hometown, he is a member of Brick Township\u2019s zoning board. He also serves on the Essex County College Foundation and Newark Workforce Development boards.<\/p>\n
