(Photo: Brick Township)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Brick officials this week awarded a contract to a firm that will rebuild portions of the Windward Beach fishing pier and add features to make the pier more accessible to those with disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>The township council awarded a $142,950 contract to Capela Construction, of Medford Lakes, to perform the work, which is being paid for through a state grant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis project is being funded through the NJDEP Green Acres program and will improve the fishing pier to add handicap accessibility,\u201d said Councilwoman Heather de Jong.<\/p>\n<p>The project will consist of the redecking of the timber pier, including new handrails. About 400 square yards of timber decking and 535 linear feet of timber railing and pull rails will be installed at the pier.
