A Brick Township man was lodged in the Ocean County Jail after having been arrested over an encounter with an 8-year-old girl at the township\u2019s Walmart store \u2013 and allegedly shoplifting at another big box store.<\/p>\n

Sean Slowinski, 24, of Brick, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child in connection with the incident, which occurred on April 9, 2025. According to a statement from prosecutors, police were contacted by an individual who claimed that her 8-year-old daughter had been touched inappropriately at the Walmart store in town.\u00a0 An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor\u2019s Office Special Victims Unit and Brick Township Police Department Detective Bureau found that the minor victim was standing in an aisle at Walmart when an unknown male \u2013 later identified as Slowinski \u2013 approached her. While standing in very close proximity to her, the male allegedly grabbed the victim\u2019s hand and put it in his sweatshirt pocket, then \u201cengaged the victim verbally\u201d before walking away.<\/p>\n

Detectives were able to ascertain a description of the suspect.<\/p>\n

Just over a week later, on April 18, 2025, Brick officers were called to the Target store on Route 70 for a report of a shoplifting.\u00a0 Responding officers were able to positively identify the suspect in the shoplifting incident, Slowinski, as the perpetrator of the incident in Walmart on April 9.\u00a0\u00a0Slowinski was taken into custody at the scene without incident.\u00a0\u00a0He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he is presently lodged pending a detention hearing.<\/p>\n
