Swiderski, 24, of Brick, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash shortly after being brought to a local hospital.

According to a statement from Manchester police, the 3:32 p.m. crash on Saturday, April 19 occurred at the intersection of Route 37 and Colonial Drive. After being called to the scene, officers arrived to find a red 2007 Honda CBR motorcycle engulfed in flames within the intersection and a white 2020 Honda Accord with extensive driver side damage on the eastbound side of the road.

The investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling west on Route 37, when it entered the intersection with Colonial Drive. The motorcycle then impacted the Accord, which was traveling south on Colonial Drive within the intersection, causing it to travel off the roadway. Upon impact, the motorcycle burst into flames and the motorcyclist was ejected over 140 feet from the vehicle onto the eastbound shoulder of Route 37.

Swiderski, who was driving the motorcycle, was transported to Community Medical Center via ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The Accord was being operated by 20-year-old Job Martinez del Villar, of Manchester, who was transported to Community Medical Center as well for treatment and evaluation of non-life threatening injuries. The roadway was closed for several hours during the investigation and roadway cleanup, police said.

Numerous police, fire and investigative agencies responded to the crash, which remains under investigation.

“The investigation into the crash is still ongoing, but at this point, failure to obey a traffic signal and speed appear to be contributing factors,” the statement said, without detailing which party was suspected to have been at fault.

The crash is being investigated by Patrolman Jesse Hoydis of the Manchester police department’s Traffic Safety Unit.

Swiderski graduated from Brick Memorial High School in 2019 and later served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a member of Brick’s hockey team, which released a statement.

“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of one of our former players, Will Swiderski,” it said. “Will, class of 2019, tragically lost his life Saturday. Will was a multi-sport athlete at Brick Township, although he only played hockey for a short time, his smile and outgoing personality will always be remembered. Will also served in the United States Marine Corps after graduation. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.”

A crash involving a motorcycle and a Honda Accord in Manchester Township over the weekend claimed the life of a 24-year-old Brick Township man who was known for his athletic prowess and his service as a United States Marine.
