Patrons will also have a chance to explore simple citizen science projects that anyone can undertake.

In addition to his stewardship of ASTRA, Webster has transformed his concerns about the impact of light pollution on astronomy and nature into action as a “Dark Sky” advocate. Members of Dark Sky International use their skills and passions to advocate for night sky protection and light pollution limits in their communities and beyond. ASTRA, established in 1977, is open to everyone interested in astronomy and space science. Members are of all ages and observational experience levels.

Webster has a long background as a science communicator, with the “dark sky” efforts having led to his role as a SciStarter Ambassador, encouraging involvement in citizen science projects in communities. SciStarter digitally connects citizen science activities nationwide to record astronomy study patterns, encourage engagement and cultivate interest.

Those interested in attending can register at https://tinyurl.com/OclASTRA to join the free program.
