Wonder, a new restaurant concept that combines meals prepared with the ingredients and recipes of world-famous chefs with delivery from a central kitchen, will open locations in both Brick and Toms River \u2013 the first brick-and-mortar storefronts the company has opened in southern New Jersey.<\/p>\n

Created by e-commerce guru Marc Lore, Wonder<\/a> bills itself as “a new kind of food hall,” preparing made-to-order meals at a Wonder storefront and delivering them to a customer’s front door in under 30 minutes. The local locations will also feature a small eat-in area on site. Whether through pickup, delivery or eat-in options, customers can choose from cuisines and dishes selected from famous restaurateurs and chefs<\/a> across the world that are cooked locally.<\/p>\n

The Brick location will open at an outparcel store in the Brick Plaza shopping center, at 56 Chambers Bridge Road, Suite 16. The Toms River location will open at 1 Route 37, the Toms River Center (Kohl’s) shopping plaza. A company spokeswoman said the Brick store will open in June and the Toms River store is scheduled to open in July, both timed for the busy summer season.<\/p>\n

The menu, available as a smartphone app, features selections from chefs such as Bobby Flay, Jose Andres, Marcus Samuelsson and more, along with award-winning restaurants from across the country including Tejas Barbeque, Di Fara Pizza, Barrio Cafe, and Limesalt, among others. Customers can experience “any combination of these chefs and restaurants all together in one order for the first time.” Wonder also features dishes from “Bellies,” a dedicated children’s restaurant.<\/p>\n

“Everything is made-to-order at a Wonder storefront and delivered to your door in under 30 minutes, allowing Wonder to bring an elevated, curated dining experience to you every time,” the company said in its announcement.<\/p>\n

The locations will also offer on-site pick-up and limited dine-in options.<\/p>\n

The brainchild of Lore, a Staten Island native who rose to fame as the director of Walmart’s e-commerce operations and later created Jet.com and Quidsi, Wonder currently operates 47 locations throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania, and is continuing what is hoped to be a national expansion. Some have called Wonder the first successful “virtual kitchen” concept, which centralizes recipes and ingredients from multiple restaurants into a single kitchen that can prepare all of them at a given time.<\/p>\n

Wonder, the company said, allows for more than 20 restaurants to operate under a single location within a 3,000 square foot kitchen.<\/p>\n
