A Brick Township man has admitted his role in a drug distribution operation, entering a guilty plea in court Monday.<\/p>\n

Raheem Montgomery, 50, pled guilty to possession of more than five ounces of cocaine with intent to distribute before Superior Court Judge Kenneth T. Palmer, in connection with an investigation that occurred during the months of July and August 2024. At the time of his sentencing on Aug. 1, 2025, prosecutors will be seeking a term of 12 years New Jersey state prison.<\/p>\n

The investigation that resulted in Montgomery\u2019s arrest began after Jackson Township police determined that Montgomery was utilizing a storage facility in that town to store and distribute illegal narcotics. On Aug. 10, 2024, detectives \u201cestablished stationary and mobile surveillance on the subject storage facility.\u201d<\/p>\n

Detectives saw Montgomery arrive at the storage facility and leave a short time later in his motor vehicle, prosecutors said. A short time later, they conducted a motor vehicle stop on the car being operated by Montgomery for failure to use a turn signal. During the course of the motor vehicle stop, detectives were able to establish that Montgomery\u2019s driving privileges were suspended, and he was placed under arrest without incident. In a search incident to his arrest, Montgomery was found to be in possession of \u201ca large amount of cocaine.\u201d<\/p>\n

After the traffic stop, authorities executed court-authorized search warrants on Montgomery\u2019s vehicle and the storage facility in Jackson. As a result, detectives seized additional amounts of cocaine and approximately 100 oxycodone pills. Montgomery was charged accordingly and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where he was subsequently released under the guidelines of New Jersey\u2019s bail reform law, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n
