The previous position was held by Matthew Sage, who was appointed as a Superior Court judge in June and current sits in the Family Division in Toms River.<\/p>\n<p>Luanne Peterpaul, a Democrat who represents the 11th legislative district in central Monmouth County, was unanimously appointed to the position by the township council Tuesday night. Peterpaul operates a law office in Asbury Park. Prior to her legislative stint, she served as a board chair of Garden State Equality where she was best known for her advocacy in legalizing gay marriage in New Jersey. She also authored the state\u2019s anti-bullying law, which was signed by former Gov. Chris Christie in 2012.
