The Brick Township council this week voted in favor of soliciting bids to repave two roadways off Drum Point Road as part of the township’s regular road maintenance program, and awarded a contract for the purchase of security cameras for the Drum Point Sports Complex \u2013 located at the other end of the thoroughfare.<\/p>\n

The council is seeking bids for the repaving of Longpoint Drive and Perry Drive, both located off Drum Point in a lagoon community south of Mandalay Road. Bids for road paving projects are generally awarded about a month after the solicitation is authorized, after which a schedule is developed between township officials and the construction company performing the week. Shorebeat will report back when an award is made.<\/p>\n

At the opposite end of Drum Point, the council this week voted to award a contract to purchase five new security cameras at the Drum Point Sports Complex. The township’s network of security cameras records activities as well as provides a live feed to the police department. The complex already has security cameras in place, however the contract provides for additional pole-mounted cameras that will provide an eye on areas that are not covered by the current system.<\/p>\n

The $57,602 contract provides for the five cameras from Carahsoft Technology Corp., of Reston, Va., which are being purchased through a national cooperative that provides pre-negotiated discounted pricing on items for governmental agencies.<\/p>\n
